Dr. Diego Ruiz Dasilva is a general dermatologist practicing in Virginia Beach, Virginia and a community assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He was born in Brazil and raised in South Florida where he attended the University of Miami for his undergraduate degree where he graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Art History, Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Ruiz Dasilva was then granted a full scholarship to attend the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
He subsequently completed his internship and Dermatology Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he developed an expertise in chronic pruritus, inflammatory dermatoses, complex medical dermatology, psychodermatology/dysesthesia, skin of color, skin cancer, surgery, and aesthetics.
Dr. Ruiz Dasilva has authored numerous scientific papers in high impact journals and has published a general dermatology review textbook.
In his free time, he enjoys playing/watching basketball, exercising, wine tasting, traveling and spending time with his wife, young son and daughter. Fun fact: he once scored 72 points in a high school basketball game but his NBA dreams shifted to medicine when he realized he was going to be vertically challenged.
