Dr. James Del Rosso is an internationally renowned educator and speaker with several publications in recognized dermatology journals. He is a frequently invited presenter at major dermatology meetings in both the United States and globally, often talking about what is new in therapeutics and drug development. Additionally, he has written and published several articles on a variety of skin diseases including proper care of the skin barrier, acne, rosacea, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and eczematous dermatoses, actinic keratosis, and skin cancers, and multiple therapeutics publications including articles on advances in topical therapies, use of monoclonal antibodies, oral small molecules including JAK inhibitors and PDE4 inhibitors, antibiotics and others. He is also the co-editor of the textbook, Acne Vulgaris. Dr. Del Rosso is Clinical Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology (JCAD) since its inception in 2005, and one of the founding editors of SKIN – the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine since 2017. Most recently, he is the dermatologist host of the Derms and Conditions Podcast Series, now in its third year made available through the dermsquared platform of educational programs. Dr. Del Rosso has been one of the senior co-directors and organizers/advisors of the Fall and Winter Clinical Dermatology meetings since the first Las Vegas meeting was held in October 2001. Over time, these very successful meetings have now expanded to a larger platform of multiple meetings, including some for dermatology physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and some for dermatology residents, along with other diverse educational offerings in many areas of dermatology. This expanded platform, where Dr. Del Rosso remains among the well-established leaders of this group, is now called dermsquared.
Dr. Del Rosso is research director and principal investigator of JDR Dermatology Research in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is dedicated to the care of people with skin disorders. He is Senior Vice President of Clinical Research and Strategic Development at Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in Maitland, Florida. His research center conducts studies for a wide variety of skin conditions, such as acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis/eczematous diseases, psoriasis, prurigo nodularis, hidradenitis suppurativa, alopecia areata, vitiligo, urticaria, cutaneous bacterial/fungal/viral infections, actinic keratosis, and skin cancer. Dr. Del Rosso has 30 years of experience in dermatology research and related publications, and he employs a high experienced and skilled staff. Dr. Del Rosso is in dermatology practice at Thomas Dermatology in Las Vegas, Nevada and is Adjunct Professor (Dermatology) at Touro University Nevada in Henderson, Nevada. He is also founder of the Scientific Panel on Antibiotic Use in Dermatology (SPAUD) which has hosted three major meetings and multiple publications since 2005, and is now part of the American Acne & Rosacea Society (AARS). Dr. Del Rosso has served as a board member and Education Committee Chair of AARS, and is currently President-Elect.
Dr. Del Rosso was the recipient of a lifetime achievement award by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) in March 2016 for his lifelong commitment to dermatology and his contributions to the field. He now has the distinguished title of Honorary Member with the Academy.
